Four Generations of Capturing Life’s Best Moments
Richard Maclone Photography is a proud branch of the Maclone Photography family tree—the longest-running line of professional photographers in Massachusetts.
Our story began four generations ago when my great-great uncle picked up a camera and began taking portraits. The family legacy grew after World War II when my grandparents, Richard Sr. and Mary, launched their photography business in Boston. Eventually, my dad, Richard Jr., and my uncles—Dennis, Bob, and Stephen—carried on the business both in the city and here on Cape Cod.
As a fourth-generation photographer, I’ve been fortunate to learn from some of the best. My journey started early: I was 11 or 12 when I first carried bags and snapped a few shots at a wedding with my dad (and to be honest, I hated it back then!). But in my teens, I picked the camera back up, and after college, I began working events alongside my Uncle Steve.

Those incredible mentors shaped me into the photographer I am today. Over the years, I’ve had the honor of capturing some truly unforgettable moments—from being voted Cape Cod’s Best Wedding Photographer by The Knot magazine in 2009, to serving as the personal photographer for a Chicago Blackhawks coach during his Day with the Stanley Cup in 2011
Today, family remains at the heart of everything we do. That’s why our main focus is on portraiture, especially families and high school seniors. Sports have also been my passion since I was a boy, so having the opportunity to help families capture their young athletes doing what they love is a gift I truly cherish.
In recent years, we’ve expanded into sports Media Days, becoming one of the top specialized photography teams in New England. We have a blast at these events, feeding off the athletes’ energy and collaborating with them to create bold, unforgettable images.
